The VISD Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability Department held its annual Staff Excellence Awards ceremony last week, recognizing exemplary educators and staff members across the district. The event celebrated the outstanding staff members from each campus who were being recognized as Teacher of the Year, Rising Star, and Impact Award recipients.
Each campus selects a Teacher of the Year who is an expert in their field and exemplifies the characteristics outlined in the VISD leadership definition while advancing growth for all students. The celebrated Teachers of the Year build collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, and families to create a positive school culture that promotes success.
The Rising Star Award honors educators who demonstrate exceptional commitment to student learning, and a positive attitude that inspires their colleagues. This award seeks to identify a teacher early in their career who shows remarkable potential and a dedication to educational excellence.
The Impact Award recognizes an employee whose contributions go above and beyond their assigned duties. This award is given to an individual who has significantly impacted their school community through dedication, creativity, and a collaborative spirit that fosters a positive school culture.
Also announced at this event was the District Teacher of the Year Award Recipients:
Elementary Teacher of the Year: Veronica Bryan from Crain Elementary
Secondary Teacher of the Year: Bethany Pompa from Victoria West High School
Veronica and Bethany will represent Victoria ISD in the selection process for the Region 3 Teacher of the Year, conducted in June and July.
Assistant Superintendent of CIA, Tammy Sestak expressed pride in the winners, stating, "It is a great honor to recognize and celebrate our award recipients. These honorees value relationships, serve students, create pathways for all and achieve results. They truly represent the spirit of excellence that make VISD and have gone the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of their students and colleagues."
Congratulations to all Teacher of the Year winners, as well as the recipients of the Rising Star and Impact Awards. Your dedication and hard work are valued and appreciated.
